May 16, 2013: 28 members
and one guest (James Bond II) were in attendance to honor this year’s
scholarship recipients from Selinsgrove
Area High
School
.Scholarships are provided by the Rotary Club in partnership with the
Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation.Jessica Gill will be attending Shippensburg University
to study computer science and graphic art.Her twin brother William will be attending Pennsylvania College
of Technology to study computer information technology and networking.Maximilian Plajer is going to Northeastern University
to study chemical engineering and Kristopher Auker will be attending Drexel University
to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. All four students spoke about
their high school activities and plans for the future.Everyone in attendance was impressed with
these young students and their accomplishments to date.

 No Chicken BBQ this June.Dave
Lawer reported that money has started to flow in from car dealers we have been
working with to raise funds for the Dental Clinic.Michael Damiano reminded people that Rotary
asks that all Rotarians consider an annual gift of $100 toward the Rotary
International Foundation.Checks can me
made payable to Rotary Foundation and mailed to Michael.Rotary Hot Dog Night at the gazebo in
Selinsgrove is scheduled for July 9th – volunteers are needed to man
this event.

 

Good News of Rotary: Jean Marc Gigoux is a photographer who has
collaborated with Rotary for more than a decade to document the dangers that
health workers face as they work to ensure that polio vaccine reaches those in
need.Many of these workers have lost
their lives as they have worked to help polio vaccine reach people.
