July 25, 2013: Twenty-seven Rotarians and a guest (Cameran Weaver’s mother Chele),
were present as Cameran spoke about Susquehanna University’s Central American
Service Adventure trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Hal Dunkelberger was the
host. Ken Miller introduced Cameran. This Go program, sponsored by the Chaplain’s
Office, allows students the opportunity to serve on a team working one week at
a church in Costa Rica and a second week at a Nicaraguan orphanage. Now in its
15th year, the SUCasa program participants choose between bible
school teaching, construction, or medical teams for their work projects.
Cameran, a rising Jr. at SU and a graduate of SAHS, is both an athlete and a
scholar – playing soccer and participating in track and field and being in both
the National Honor Society in high school and Alpha Lambda Delta at
Susquehanna.It is clear that she
learned much from her experiences abroad that she will bring to her future work
as an Early Childhood educator who is also skilled in the Spanish language.
Dave Lawer presided.
