at 10:45 a.m. followed by regular meeting at 11:45 a.m. SVCC. All members are

August 15, 2013: Twenty-four Rotarians were present as visiting Rotarian Justin Charles
spoke about the LaGenove Island, Haiti Hospital Solar Project. Art Bowen was
the host. Justin is a co-owner of Lenape Solar and visited the Island and
became highly involved in the design of this project to provide electrical
energy to the only hospital on the island of approximately 115,000 people.
Partners in the project include WISH, Christ Wesleyan Church Milton, LemonAID
(an English foundation); and Wesleyan Global Partners.The Lewisburg Sunset Rotary Club has assisted
in raising funds for this $420,000 project. The poverty of the island is such
that this project is essential to their health and well being. Market St.
Festival is 9/28 – step up by talking to John Stokinger or Melissa
Laniewski!!!!

Announcements: Art
Bowen has prepared the annual calendar and it will be placed on the Club’s
website, with a few copies printed for those who do not use computers; Mike
Piecuch announced that the Snyder Ct. Night out program is scheduled for 6 to 8
p.m., 8/27. He would appreciate some Rotary volunteers to assist with making
and distributing popcorn; the Golf Tournament, a scramble format, is scheduled
for 9/9 and golfers are needed; Ken Miller reported on the field sewer project
and the fact that the borough is responsible for the street part of the
project.

Good News of
Rotary:
Konrad Kempfe shared information about the Rotaract Club in
Kiev, Ukraine wher members are working with children at an orphanage providing
crafts teaching some of the 100,000 living in orphanages in the Ukraine.

Sergeant at arms: Konrad Kempfe collected happy fines as follows: himself (Happy Birthday and 12th
USA Soccer win). It is noted that Earl Ferster, though not present, provided
the cake and Hal Dunkelberger paid a fine “for” Earl and for +15 in happy
fines. Mike Flock (Bill Clark’s investment club story about Norm Lauer); Nelson
Bailey (son’s visit and expectation of 5 week visit from mother in law); Ken
Miller (Melissa Laniewski’s real estate abilities); Melissa Laniewski (ok to
call her Missy if you’re a client and thanks for the advertisement); Tom Gates
(family vacation and leaving early); Chad Cohrs (teachers report tomorrow, Dave
Lawer’s dental clinic work); Art Bowen (beach vacation and speaker); Wes Knapp
(speaker); Justin Charles (happy birthday and son starts first grade); Mike
Piecuch (State College conference, Lauren Hoover hired full time as 2nd
grade teacher); Charlie McCuen (Sharon’s first place in the art show.
