Rotarians were present to hear football coach Dave Hess of Selinsgrove discuss
his love for the game and his philosophy of coaching. He and his staff set high expectations for
their players and motivate them to reach for championships every year. They press them to deal with adversity in
hopes that it will help them when they deal with the adversities they might
experience later in life.If you show
kids how much you care and always have their best interest at heart, they will
rise to the challenges you give them. Coach Hess also spoke about the SEALS Den
which is a house in Selinsgrove where he and his staff help students in the
Special Education Program to learn life skills in a real world setting. The goal is to provide them with the training
and experience to live on their own and maintain a job.The program has been very successful.
