Vol. 86, No. 14

President – Wesley Knapp

Editor – Dottie Anderson

Next Meeting:
Oct. 17, 2013 – Speaker will be Dr. David Imhoof, Susquehanna University
History Profession. His topic is “From Weimar German to the Third Reich:
Culture and Germany’s Road to Nazism.” Nelson Bailey is the host. SVCC, 11:45
a.m.

Oct. 10, 2013:
Twenty-seven Rotarians and guests (Fritz Heinemann of Economics PA, John
Fischer’s guest, Susan Myers of West Va., Dottie Anderson’s guest, and Rocky
Baer, Mike Flock’s guest) were present as John Fischer introduced speaker Don
Remmey of Remmey: The Pallet Company. With two locations, one of which is in
Beaver Springs, the company makes over 400 different sizes of wood pallets. Founded
by a member of the Amish Community and purchased by Don in 1990, he recognizes
the cultural differences and has learned how to succeed while providing better
working conditions for his employees who now number about 160. The history of
wood pallets (starting with skids used for the military) and then further
developed as a commodity that assists any business shipping and storing
materials was very interesting.
