Dec. 19, 2013: Twenty-six Rotarians were present as
host Charlie McCuen, introduced his speakers: Sharon McCuen spoke about
printmaking and the process of protracted monotypes, and Vickie Renn spoke
about her “journey” with watercolor art. Sharon, a Bloomsburg grad with an MA
from Penn State, and Vickie, a Shikellamy and Kutztown graduate, both taught
art in the public schools for many years while at the same time developing as
artists and showing their work.Sharon
had several “former” and current students among the members present. Members
enjoyed seeing samples of their distinctly different work and many had
questions of the artists. Dave Lawer presided. Jeff Schaum announced he will be
leaving the area to return to Lancaster and will miss being with the
Selinsgrove Rotary Club. Dave made a presentation to our “waitress extraordinaire”
Sue, to thank her for her assistance to the Club throughout the year. Announcements: Tree Fest is open through Dec. 20 and all are urged to visit
before it closes. Do plan to stop by and support the Friends of the Library
fund raiser. Vote for the Rotary tree – The Very Hungry Caterpillar.*John
Thompson shared a thank you from the Salvation Army for the $200 raised this
season via bell ringing by Rotarians.**Joyce Anderson reported on the gifts
purchased and given to this year’s “family” – a 7 year old girl (lots of Hello
Kitty things and art supplies requested) and two 16 year old girls (clothes,
shoes, jewelry, etc.). Rotarians provided donations of about $225 for this
project.

Jan. 9 – Jeff and Heather Necessary of Blue Dog Imaging,

Kathy Weller of the 4H Club will be the speaker. Partners, friends welcome for
this evening dinner event at CCUMC at 6 p.m.
