April 3, 2014: Thirty-two Rotarians and guests were in attendance as host John Thompson introduced speaker Steve Leauber, American Red Cross Northern Regional Director of Disaster Relief. Edna Reinhard. SUN Division, was unable to be with us as speaker as she was in Lewistown responding and coordinating response to a fire that burned 22 homes. The Red Cross works with preparedness, response, and recovery. Working with other agencies as appropriate, they respond to emergencies across the country and the world, working with the army. They provide food and shelter and other aid as possible working with community partners. Art Bowen introduced his guests from the Heart Association, Denise Sellers and Diana McGee Announcements: See Hal Dunkelberger or Donna Schuck if you are interested in attending the District Conference at the Lehigh Valley Holiday Inn, April 26-27.**Distinguished Service Award event will occur in May rather than April this year.***See John Thompson if you are in need of a program for a week you are the host.****Mike Flock asks for a Rotarian to drive student to Penn State on 4/12 so she can participate in the 4 Way test speech contest. Good News of Rotary: Ken Miller and John Fischer shared personal experiences related to hosting exchange students. Joyce Anderson and Donna Schuck shared information about students interested in the 6 week summer program. Sergeant of Arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines as follows: Happy Birthday Ken Miller (added to his being back and sharing about his Ecuador trip); himself (Penn State Women’s Basketball); John Fischer (SACF Board Meeting); Mike Flock (wife home); Denise and Diana (happy to be with us); Art Bowen (guests and number of community volunteers); Mary Peterhaensel (3 day Bishop’s retreat); Wes Knapp (middle school concert); Rocky Baer (back); Charlie McCuen (back from Fl, off to Costa Rica); Dave Lawer (guests and speaker); Pat Pinkowski (Bill home after surgery); Joyce Anderson (guests); Brian Neitz (Mexico trip planned to celebrate 15th wedding anniversary); Gaston Carroll (baseball start and Braves win, golf this weekend); and Earl Ferster (+15 and living the Rotary motto).
