Vol. 86, No. 41 President – Donna Schuck Editor – Dottie Anderson

Next Meeting: May 15, 2014 – Rotarian Kendra Aucker, Chair of the SACF Scholarship Committee, will introduce this year’s winners of the Rotary/SACF scholarships. Bill Clark is the host. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

May 8, 2014: Twenty-six Rotarians and guests were present for speaker Dr. Jennifer Rager’s presentation on the field of Otolaryngology, Jennifer Rager, D.O, and her husband Peter Kay (a law student about to finish his work at Weidner University), were introduced by host Nelson Bailey. Also present was Sunbury Community Hospital Marketing Director, Joe Stendir. Dr. Rager described the specialty fields within otolaryngology and her work as a generalist in the field. She has an active practice at the Sunbury Hospital and was quite responsive to all the questions asked by members. This was an interesting presentation. Other guests were Kathleen Evans of Lewisburg (a former SASD teacher and librarian) and Jean Boivin, visiting from Quebec, Canada. Dottie Anderson had invited them to attend with the goal of introducing Jean to some avid golfers, and it worked!

Announcements: Distinguished Service Award event will occur June 12, 19, or 26.*See Toby Skinner, John Thompson or Art Bowen if you are in need of a program for a week you are the host.**Tickets for the Chicken Barbeque scheduled for June 7 (Gaston chairing) were distributed and Dave Lawer and Gaston described the way in which the barbeque will work this year. They are working hard to keep good records of who bought tickets so that the order for chicken will be accurate. A sign-up sheet was circulated to indicate the number of tickets a member believes they can sell and a second sheet was circulated for workers on the day of the event. An all-star little league tournament will also be occurring on the 7th and we will be working in the concession stand as well. This will be the club’s major fund raiser, so all hands on deck!!!

Sergeant of Arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines as follows: himself (Girls on the Run donation by the SACF); Dave Lawer (speakers and Nelson); Sherri Hoffman (here, daughter’s vocal success, (sad news) Sherri will be leaving the club because of her job change); Gaston (NFL draft, help planning barbeque); Bill Clark (speaker and SVC concert); Joyce Anderson (speakers, grandkids confirmations, Girls on the Run); Nelson (Chorale and guests); Donna Schuck (on credit from Dave – speakers, barbeque planning and guests); Charlie McCuen (Sherri will be missed); John Fischer (ditto); Ken Miller (likes new Chicken Barbeque plan); and Earl Ferster (Gaston and Dave stepping up and +15).
