December 18, 2014: Twenty-eight Rotarians and guests (spouses – Bill Pinkowski; Marty Rhoads; Abby Fogle, and Sharon McCuen) were present for our Holiday Party, which was complete with good food and fellowship. Advisor to the Interact Club, Ashley Whary, provided an update on their activities, indicating enthusiasm for service and work with Life Skills class and Introduction to Exceptionalities course. Dave Lawer was the host, John Reed was the greeter. Dave reviewed all of the projects that have been completed in the first half of this Rotary year. Joyce Anderson reported that following generous donations from members, we purchased a total of 13 boys’ coats through Children and Youth, in addition to tooth brushes and paste that were distributed at their holiday party. Michael Damiano shared thank you letters received from third graders for the dictionaries distributed in November. Following last’s weeks meeting cancellation because of snow, it was good to be together again in good fellowship before the holiday break.

Announcements: Tree Fest ends tomorrow, 12/19. Dottie Anderson and Pat Pinkowski reminded the group that our Tree Fest tree supporting the library is “Pinkalicious” – PLEASE STOP BY AND VOTE FOR OUR TREE!*Art Bowen asks all to be thinking of nominees for this years distinguished service award. He wants to have plenty of time to get the event planned and supported by all members.**Pat Pinkowski reported that the dining out night at Texas Roadhouse is scheduled for Wed. 2/11 and we will receive 10% of the meal cost for all who present a flyer that will distributed to Rotarians.***President Lawer distributed a signup sheet attempting to determine what should be charged per ball for the golf ball drop fund raiser that will be schedule sometime in April.

Rotary Minute: Hal Dunkelberger reported on the District Conference and also attempted to auction off his Santa playing golf tie – it didn’t work – he still had the tie. Fortunately for Rotary, the tie sold for $25 after the meeting. Good News of Rotary: Konrad Kempfe reported on Ahme Yusuf Omer’s article about importance of a Rotaract Club in developing a service above self motivation. Ahme is from Addis Abab, Ethiopia.
