July 30, 2015: Twenty plus Rotarians and a guest (Cheryl Stumpf, Art Bowen’s guest) were present for a presentation by John Zechman, President of Penn Valley Christian Academy and Bible Institute. Wes Knapp was the host. Pastor Zechman has been President for 25 of the 50 year history of the Academy and Institute, with the Academy (k – 12) started in 1966 as a fully private Christian School which currently has 14 students. Associated with God’s Missionary Church, the Institute is working to become accredited and thus able to award degrees, and is dedicated to educating young people to reach out through music and ministry. Tuition for the academy is approximately $3000 per year, and for the Institute is $2400 per semester. This was an energetic and enthusiastic presentation by a person passionate about his ministry.
Announcements: Wes shared that his wife is home after 6 weeks of hospitalization and is recuperating.*Rotary Summit is 8/1 in State College – see Hall asap if you are interested in attending.**The District picnic is scheduled for 8/22 at Knoebel’s Grove. Meet at Pamilion T at 1 p.m. and bring a dish to share. Entry to the park is free. RSVP by 8/14 to cawalsh@aol.com. Speak with Mike Piecuch or Hal if you want additional information.***About 80 people were present for last Thursday’s movie night, last movie on schedule is Frozen on 8/13, complete with karaoke as well as popcorn!
