Aug. 20, 2015:  Rotarians and guests gathered to hear about the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation. Guests included our outgoing Rotary exchange student, Catherine Lucchi who will be heading to Taiwan as well as our incoming Rotary exchange student, Fanny from Belgium. Also, in attendance was teacher Brittany Bunting-Specht who is serving as Fanny’s first host family. Mike Flock started the presentation and gave the history of the CSCF and the initial motivation behind starting the foundation. It started out with the Selinsgrove Rotary Club and all the initial board members were Rotarians. Since then it has evolved into a more encompassing foundation. Heather Rowe, President of CSCF informed members that since 2007 over $141,000.00 has been given as scholarships and has reached 65 different students. The foundation is also able to partner with the state’s “PATH” program that matches scholarship funds and was able to obtain an additional $45,000.00 in student scholarship funds. Holly Morrison, Executive Director of the CSCF explained the motto, “For good, forever” and the mission of the foundation. The CSCF serves more as an umbrella foundation of a tax-exempt community allowing individuals and entities to create their own foundations. More information can be found at: www.csgiving.org.
