November 26, 2015 – Thanksgiving Day, no meeting.

 Nov. 19, 2015:  Twenty-four Rotarians and guests (Bill Bucher, Dottie Anderson’s guest) were present to hear Carroll N. Flansburg, Research Coordinator of MyCode Health Initiative, and a member of Geisinger’s Genetic Research Team. Dave Lawer was the host. The MyCode project is a first step in providing “precision medicine” to Geisinger patients. They are closing in on 100,000 participants against a goal of 250,000 and are currently focusing on 27 conditions (76 genes): cancer predisposition, cardiovascular disease, and malignant hyperthermia, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia and related issues. She also spoke about the importance of The Family Health History Campaign and provided materials to assist families in developing a three generation history.  It is interesting to contemplate the future developments possible through gnome testing and knowledge.

Announcements: Joyce Anderson is collecting funds for items requested by Children and Youth as our Christmas project.* We are participating in Tree Fest again – Imogene’s Antlers is the book.** A croquet your way meeting was held  this mornin.to discuss this May 20-21 event and Donna Schuck shared the logo selected. Next meeting is 12/10 at 10:30 a.m..***President Mike shared concerns about the health of the DG, David Ford.

Sergeant at arms: With Donna Schuck providing the humor, Mike Piecuch served as Sergeant at arms and collected “happy fines” as follows: Happy Birthday to Art Bowen; from Dottie Anderson (getting Bill to consider becoming a Rotarian again); Pat Pinkowski (Selinsgrove football);  Dave Lawer (Bill Bucher, speaker and roller derby); Chad Cohrs (back, football team, Thanksgiving); Ken Miller (hunting trip); John Reed (adventurous trip to DC area with dogs and grandkids-PLAN AHEAD); Mary Peterhaesel (back, possible trip to Liberia in Jan.); Bob Soper; Mike Piecuch (Girsl on the Run 5K success); Mike Flock (Outer Banks and secret beach); Jerry Rhoades (feeling better); Bill Bucher (happy to be here); and Earl Ferster (+15 and birth of two great grandkids).
