January 28, 2016:  Despite “competition” from some other evening events (Mike Flock’s retirement party and a Borough meeting looking at vision and goals for Selinsgrove), 36 Rotarians, Young Farmers, and presenters from the Future Farmer’s, plus partners and guests, were present for Urban/Rural Night dinner and program at the Christ Community United Methodist Church. The church’s Busy Bees group did their usual wonderful job in preparing the chicken and waffle dinner. Jerry Rhoades had set up the program and President Elect Mary Peterhaensel presided. Wes Knapp provided the invocation. Presenting the parliamentary demonstration they are preparing for regional and state competition, the students, assisted by co-advisor Valerie Fry, did an excellent and entertaining job. The students attending were Kevin Dressler (who will attend Penn State as a Ag student in the fall and whose SAE is at Dressler Farms); Addie Lannan, Alyssa Landis, John Merroth, Michael Huggins, and Nathan Moyer.  Only one of the students’ lives on a farm, and the most unusual project involves a cockroach colony.
