February 11, 2016: Twenty-five Rotarians and guests were present to hear about Evangelical’s Hospital to Home Program, a community paramedicine program. Speakers were Director of Pre-Hospital Service, Nick Klose and Paramedic Matt Myers. Donna Schuck was the host. Nick reviewed the history of the original ambulance program at the hospital and its growth since 1986 from five employee to 85 employees now. On 8/31/15 the Community Paramedicine program started in order to lower re-admittance rates following hospital stays. The Mobile Integrated Healthcare program is providing an extension and link between primary care doctors, the hospital and the patient. The paramedics initial visit is about an hour and 1/2 as they seek to assess the patients’ needs for a successful recovery at home. Melissa Laniewski introduced her 2nd week guest – Sarah Maneval. We also had the pleasure of a visit from Fanny Meyer, our inbound exchange student, her sister Zoe, visiting from Belgium and flying back home tomorrow, and Brittany Specht. (Our prayers are with Earl and Grace Ferster).

Announcements: Club winter weather policy: if SASD is closed, we will not have a meeting.* Wed. 2/17 will be our Polio Plus fund raising event at Texas Roadhouse. The flyer has been circulated via e-mail. Anyone interested in helping at the table display between 3 and 10 p.m. should speak with President Piecuch**The Four Way Speech Contest is scheduled for 2/19 at the SASC.***April 21 will be our Distinguished Service Award Luncheon (not evening event).**** Konrad Kempfe was pleased to report that our outbound exchange student, Catherine Lucci and her home family are fine and not injured in the major earthquake that has occurred in the city she’s in in Taiwan.

March 17 – Dr. Marsha Kelliher, Dean of the SWSB at Susquehanna, will speak about the latest issues in employment law (e-mail, surveillance, including drones), and microchipping employees. Art Bowen is the host. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
