 February 18, 2016:  Twenty-four Rotarians were present to hear Joe Kantz, Snyder County Commissioner, speak about North Shore Railroad Company, where is employed p/t in marketing. Toby Skinner was the host, John Fischer was the greeter. North Shore operates 6 short line railroads comprised of Juniata Valley, Lycoming Valley, Nittany & Bald Eagle, North Shore, Shamokin Valley and Union County Industrial. There is a compelling case to be made for the value of railroads in providing transportation for business and industry. Partnered with two Class I railroads, North Shore offers the means for businesses to reach all markets and is an environmentally friendly solution for all shipping needs, saving businesses money. With approximately 90 employees, North Shore is locally owned and collaborates with the region’s economic development organizations to bring new industry to the area and is a partner of SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority.

Announcements: Club winter weather policy: if SASD is closed, we will not have a meeting.* Wed. 2/17 was our Polio Plus fund raising event at Texas Roadhouse with numerous Rotarians participating. **The Four Way Speech Contest is scheduled for 2/29 at the SASC.***April 21 will be our Community Spirt Award Luncheon (not evening event).****
