February 25, 2016: Thirty Rotarians and guests (Sarah Maneval) were present to hear Chris Berleth, Senior District Executive, speak about the work of the Seven Bridges District of the Susquehanna Council of Boy Scouts of America. With 58 units in the District, they are composed of Cub Packs, Boy Scouts (including a troop for those with disabilities), Venturing (coed for 14-21 year olds, providing opportunity to meet life time goals in in hobbies and leadership), and Exploring (coed for 14 to 21 year olds providing opportunity for actual experience with a variety of careers). The newest National program is Lion Pilot Program for kindergartners. Close to 40 Scounts will be attending the 2017 National Jamboree, and approximately 100 Scouts earned Eagle Scout honors in 2015. Bob Soper was the host.
Announcements: Club winter weather policy: if SASD is closed, we will not have a meeting.* The Four Way Speech Contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. on 2/29 at the SASC.**April 21 will be our Community Spirt Award Luncheon (not evening event) honoring the work of the Dauntless Hook and Ladder volunteers. Tom Garlock will speak at the event.***Work proceeds on the 5/21 Mallet Madness fundraiser, letters and brochure have been written and designed. Next meeting is 3/17 at 10:30.
