April 14, 2016: Twenty-five Rotarians were present as Mike and Anne Gibbs, Brando (retired military/explosive detection dog) and Boris (retired police/drug dog) educated members about K9 Hero Haven. Mary Peterhaensel was the host. Founded in 2011, they have adopted out 47 dogs so far, with 7 of them being reunited with their original handlers. All enjoyed the demonstration of how the dogs work. Funded by donations, and now a recognized non-profit, it is a “worthy work” that they are doing and providing for these rescued animals, some of whom have been injured in the line of duty, some with PTSD.
