October 20, 2016: Eighteen Rotarians were present to hear Kelly O’Brien-Gavin from Rural Business Innovation speak about the RBI, KIZ program and the incubator’s impact in Selinsgrove. Carol Handlan was the host, Art Bowen, the greeter. Kelly shared the Rural Business Innovation which she manages in 9 counties. This is a private/public partnership and provides a wide variety of services. Partners included Susquehanna, Bucknell, and Bloomsburg. An example she used of a success in Selinsgrove’s KIZ is Fresh Roasted Coffee and its success. In additionation to the LEAP Program and General Business Counsulting Services, the Incubator Space program has, by providing space, advice, financial backing, facilitated the development of small businesses. The website provides additional information and guidance. A Special Member Recognition occurred when Joyce Anderson, with roses and chocolate, spoke about the years of membership for folks like Art Bowen (29 years); Jerry Rhoads (32 yrs); Hal Dunkelberger (35 years);  Marv Rudnitsky (40 yrs); Earl Ferster and Bob Fogle (36 years); Ken Miller – and especially Bob Soper who became a member in 1969 – 47 years ago.

Announcements: Seven hundred, 36 tickets were sold for the Golf Ball Drop, with beautiful weather for the actual event this past Saturday. Art sent around an e-mail announcing the winners. We have made about $2500 on this effort.*Halloween Parade report – Toby Skinner acknowledge the efforts of Rotarians in distributing candy.** The Dictionary Project was carried out successfully, with Mike Damiano providing remarks to the students.

International Moment: Dave Lawer spoke about the 100th anniversary of the Rotary International Foundation and challenged all members to donate at least $26.50.

Sargent at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines as follows: Himself (speaker, John Stokinger and Art Bowen, being late); Hal Dunkelberger (all our project workers and volunteers, last home game and clean lawn); Sara Manaval (Golf Ball Drop and other projects); Tom Gates (Golf Ball Drop, John Fischer); Dave Lawer (John Fischer and commitment to SACF and all our activities); Bob Soper (Dave L’s remarks about Foundation); Art Bowen (John S and great work on keeping ticket sales recorded); Toby Skinner (Wes back, GBDJ); Carol Handlan (guest, John S and Art, Halloween parade).
