December 15, 2016: Twenty-two Rotarians and guests (Eric Groes-Peterson) were present as Susana Falck spoke about Rotary’s clean water projects in Ecuador and Nicaragua. Konrad Kempfe was the host, with Earl Ferster substituting given Konrad’s knee replacement surgery, and John Reed was the greeter. Rotary is playing an important role in the development of water and sanitation systems through RI Foundation grants. Susana plays a major role in the District in obtaining and implementing grants in both Ecuador and Nicaragua. Given the rates of death from water borne diseases, especially among children, this is an important project for major improvements in the lives of people around the world.
