December 22, 2016: Thirty Rotarians and guests (Eric Groes-Peterson, plus numerous partners) were present for our annual Christmas Celebration and Luncheon. We were entertained by soprano Amy Caron and pianist Gail Fischer. A special highlight was Amy’s duet with her father, Marv Rudnitsky. All enjoyed singing carols and other Christmas songs. Host Art Bowen also present Susan with her monetary thank you from Rotarians for faithfully serving our meals every week. Joyce Anderson reported that Jerry Rhoads remains at GMC, hopeful for positive results from more tests, and Konrad Kenpfe is making a steady recovery from knee replacement surgery.
International Moment: Dave Lawer reported on a call from Shelterbox about urgent needs on border between Turkey and Syria. He also circulated a lovely hand written thank you note from a scholarship winner.
Announcements: Program hosts are reminded that it is the hosts responsibility to tell speakers that they will have 20 minutes for their presentations, with another 10 for any Q & A and that, as 1 p.m. approaches, those who are working will be leaving the meeting in order to return to work.**Save the date for Mallet Madness – May 19-20, 2017.***President Mary will be in Liberia for three weeks beginning 1/17 and President Elect Toby will be serving as presider during Mary’s absence. Mary is especially happy to be making contact with her adopted son’s birth father and siblings.
