April 27, 2017: Program featured a presentation by John Stokinger describing status of 2nd annual Mallet Madness planning and outlining expectations and volunteer opportunities for all members. Event dates are May 19-20, with volunteers needed on Friday (minimum of 8 people) to assist with set up of tents and courts (about 3:30 p.m.). This will be followed by opportunity for players to practice. Saturday starts early with help needed at registration, as referees and players. The potential if all sponsor levels met, is $17,750 in income ($9,300 so far). The goal is 45 teams playing for non-profits. Seventeen registered to date. Wicked Dog Grill food truck will have food for purchase for lunch on Saturday, with event providing a continental breakfast for players. The anonymous $5,000 grand sponsor is based on all non-profits receiving $100 just for fielding a team. In addition to the $1000 – first place; $500 –second place; $250 – third place prize, there is also a mad hatter/spirit award of $100. Because of the pass through account established with the SACF, all sponorships and donations are tax deductible. Checks are to be made payable to the Selinsgrove Rotary Fund of the SACF. Dottie Anderson was the host for the program, with 18 Selinsgrove Rotarians present. Announcements: District Conference is scheduled for May 11-14 at Split Rock Lodge – see Hal for additional information. Mary will be making a presentation about the activities of the Selinsgrove Club and is has asked specific members to provide additional information about particular projects.*Marv Rudnitsky is looking for host families for our 16 year old female inbound exchange student from South Korea (she has excellent English language skills). Please consider being a host family and/or contributing toward the $100 per month spending money that is to be provided to the student.**Art Bowen reported that Joyce Anderson is making a good recovery at home. Sergeant at arms: Konrad Kempfe collected happy fines as follows: Mike Flock (return from HGTV shooting at daughters’ home on the Outer Banks, progress on the REC building project); Dan Mahoney (Shic track team win over Selinsgrove after 50 years); Art Bowen (golf with brother, Karen’s recovery, Meredith’s house purchase); Tom Gates (Ashville, NC trip, leaving early); John Stokinger (Mom’s visit and speaker!); Mary Peterhaensel (Mallet Madness Committee); John Fischer (Field Hockey games); Chad Cohrs (spring activities, MM work, son’s wedding date, speaker); Bill Clark (turnaround is fair play); Dave Betz (son’s turkey hunting success); and himself (MM committee).
