October 12, 2017: Twenty-six Rotarians and guests (Ken’s wife Dawn Miller, brother Barry and Barry’s grandson, and John Stokinger’s mother Gladys) were present and heard Major Todd Miller, Retired, speak about his experiences as a 22-year member of the Air Force. Todd is a graduate of Selinsgrove High School, Bloomsburg (as a Theater major), and first served in Iceland as a Broadcaster. He then began work with nuclear weapons, spending 4 years in Montana, before becoming part of the Threat Reduction Agency, working with arms control and the reduction of nuclear weapons. Is it acknowledged that “mutually assured destruction” if nuclear weapons used, but necessary giving need for deterrents against their use. While retired from the military, he still serves as a private contractor in the area of arms control and reduction, currently working on the elimination of chemical weapons. Ken Miller was the host.
Announcements: 2018 Mallet Madness date is set – June 9 – Save the date.*John Stokinger needs all of us to report on sales of Golf Ball Drop tickets. The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. on 10/14 and the goal is to sell all 1000 tickets. Times have been set up for selling tickets at the mall in the hope of selling all 1000.**Don Summers reports that all went well with Dictionary distribution project on 10/6 at the intermediate school and thank you cards written by the students were circulated. *** Remember to show up is you signed up to help with candy distribution at the 10/17 Halloween Parade, 5:30 at the start of the parade.****Nominating Committee for 2018-19 Officers and Directors is Mary Peterhaensel, Chair, Dave Lawer and Mike Piecuch.*****Dave Lawer reported for the Audit Committee that all is well with the 2016-17 books.******We have received thank you letter from the Foundation.******Konrad Kempfe provided a certificate certifying planting of tree as requested by the District Governor.

Nov. 16 – Annual Meeting and Election of Officers and Directors for 2018-19. Discussion planned about potential changes to the Club Bylaws to allow for Corporate and Partner memberships. President Toby Skinner presides. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
