February 1, 2018: Twenty-three Rotarians and guests (Dottie Anderson’s guest, Donna Ross, Adm. Coordinator for Summer SEALS and Carol Handlan’s guest, Susan Crawford, General Manager of Marzoni’s) were present as host Cheryl Stumpf introduced speaker Pam Fontino, Director of the Johnson Center for Civic Engagement at Susquehanna University. Pam, a 2007 graduate, returned to SU almost two years ago as the Director in addition to living and working in Residence Life. She shared information about programs connecting SU students to the community – GIVE, SU SERVE, Holiday Giving Tree, Project of the Month, Earth Week, sustainability projects such as the Garden, produce from which goes to local food banks. Pam’s energy level is wonderful to see and hear.

A Board Meeting preceded this meeting. John Fischer shared that the Board is recommending to the membership that we contribute $2500 for a Panel Sponsor Level 3 for the Inclusive Playground at East Snyder Park with the leadership of the Andy Russell Charitable Foundation. Before the Board Meeting, Summer SEALS Day Camp received an EITC donation from Waste Management. President Toby thanked Sarah Maneval for hosting Urban/Rural Night.

Announcements:2018 Mallet Madness date is set – June 9 – Save the date. Planning meetings of the committee have started and Dan Mahoney has joined the committee. Donna Schuck and John Stokinger, co-chairs, spoke about sponsorship levels and $2500 challenge grant from an anonymous donor, with match now being sought.*Golf Ball Drop date is set for Oct. 20, 2018 at noon, with possibility of lunch being held at the same time. Tickets have been distributed. Turn receipts and ticket stubs into John Stokinger.**Donations of snacks continue to be needed for students at the REC. Snacks can be delivered between 3-6 p.m. Call Kelly Feiler if you are interested in volunteering at the Center.***Art Bowen is holding a meeting of the committee to select the 2017-18 Distinguished Service Award winner.****District Conference is in Hershey 5/4-6 – perhaps car pool to the event?
