Nov. 1, 2018: Twenty-three Rotarians were present to hear a presentation by Bob Garrett, President and CEO of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. Dan Mahoney was the host. Bob described the regional work that is occurring with the Chamber assisting area townships and boroughs in updating their comprehensive plans. Penn Township is the final township in Eastern Snyder County to complete this process. Of note is that all the plans are including remediation efforts in areas impacted by the river and streams. He shared information about the Community Prosperity Alliance which started with all the local towns who had main street managers and improvement groups such as Selinsgrove’s SPI, Inc. That group now puts out a quarterly publication showcasing local communities and their events – Local Gems Regional Riches. He also shared results of every other year research conducted by the chamber with other partners which highlights major concerns among chamber members for the local communities and businesses. This was an insightful presentation. A Club Board Meeting preceded.
