March 21, 2019: Twenty-five Rotarians and guests were present and heard Bill Morrow from the Upper Susquehanna Valley representative of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, describe the goals of reaching coaches to influence them to positively influence there atheletes. Chad Cohrs was the host. Also present was Fred Keller’s guest, Jon Anzer, his campaign manager, and Student of the month Leah Bodinger along with her favorite teacher, Britany Bunting-Sprect. Leah plans to attend Penn State studying music and env. Science. She is the current president of the French Club and has known and worked with Britany since her freshmen year. The Club is delighted to see the return of this program. Marv Rudnitsky pointed out that Britany is also the forensics coach that facilitates the 4 Way Test contest (this year’s event occurred on Monday and the club will have the opportunity to meet and hear from the winner at a later date. Judges this year were Marty Blessing, Dave Lawer and Konrad Kempfe.) Founded in 1954, the FCA is now in 84 different countries and uses leadership events and a summer camp to encourage coaches to make use of their large influence with their athletes. Since some of this occurs in public schools, they need to be cognizant of the laws and guidelines for dealing with religious expression in that setting.
