April 11, 2019: Twenty-five Rotarians and guests (Melissa’s guest, Christine Horton; Barbara Reed; April Student of the Month, Hannah Doll, accompanied by her favorite teacher, Rachel Ulsh) enjoyed a presentation by host Marv Rudnitsky on their trip to South Africa. In his role as Director, Marv introduced Hannah who in turn introduced Mrs. Ulsh, Choir Director and the Director of the spring musicals. Hannah says “music is my life” in describing her self and her activities (choir, band, cast member, founder of Tri M chapter at SASD). Following graduation this spring, Hannah plans to attend Ithaca College in the fall, majoring in music and psychology, with the plan of pursuing a career in music therapy. Raven joined Marv in sharing their South Africa adventure, which included Cape Town, surrounding areas in the townships, the Cape of Good Hope (where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet). This was following by a safari for four days in Krueger Park Game Preserve following a flight to Johannesburg. There isn’t enough room in the newsletter to share all about the history, culture, people and animals tat the experienced on this trip of a lifetime.
