Selinsgrove Area Rotary Club
Be the Inspiration
Vol. 91, No. 39 President – Cheryl Stumpf Editor – Dottie Anderson

Next Meeting: May 9, 2019 – Club Assembly and program about Mallet Madness and how every member has an important role to play to insure the success of the event. Donna Schuck and John Stokinger presenting.

May 2, 2019: Twenty-five Rotarians and a Melissa Laniewski’s guest, Christine Horton, were present to hear Jason Kaufman, Training and Quality Assurance Coordinator, describe the history and current work creating the Central Susquehanna Regional 911 Center. CSR 911, locating in the expanded former Snyder Ct. Center, is the combined Emergency Services center that includes Snyder, Union and Upper Northumberland Counties. Union and Upper Northumberland are now “live” and Snyder Ct. cut over will begin on 5/15. The County Commissioners had commissioned a study by MCM Consulting which concluded that combining created greater efficiencies and saved expenditures. Jason has served as an emergency dispatcher since the original location of Emergency Services in the basement of the Middleburg Court House in 1978. The use of 911 in this area began in the late 1970’s, and the developments in rural technology to provide this service was stimulated following the World Trade Center tragedy and the need was identified for coordinated and up to date dispatching equipment throughout the country. A Rotary board meeting preceded. We are pleased that under the leadership of President Stumpf, the Selinsgrove Rec, Inc. board is revitalized. Membership in addition to Cheryl is Tom Gates, John Fischer, Don Rowe, Ken Miller and, from Little League, Shawn Felty.

Announcements: Next Planning meeting for Mallet Madness is Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 at Melissa Laniewski’s home.
