June 20, 2019 – Nineteen Rotarians were present to hear John Deppen, American, Military, and Civil War Historian, speak about Holocaust Deniers. Given the recognition of the 2nd world war and the honor in which we hold veterans of that war, it is quite disturbing that we seem to have forgotten why we fought that war. Acknowledging that this is a difficult topic for people, John feels strongly that it is important that we educate and reeducate about the truth of genocide that occurred during the Nazi regime. He recommends a book for all to read – Elie Wiesel’s Night. Hhe shared a book written for children and released in 2018 entitled What Was the Holocaust. He also recommends Lawrence Rees, The Holocaust: A New History. Jared Roush was the host for this exceptional program.
