Rotary Connects the World
Volume 92, No. 7 President – Carol Handlan Editor – Dottie Anderson
Next Meeting – August 29, 2019 – John Stokinger is both host and speaker for this program entitled “Pennsylvania State Parks Build Great Memories.” SVCC, 11:45 a.m.
August 22, 2019 – Twenty Rotarians were present as new member Kristine Horton gave her classification talk. She expressed thanks to Melissa Laniewski for sponsoring her for Rotary membership. Born and raised in Johnstown, PA, and while she was working as a service rep for Verizon, she met her husband and they relocated to Selinsgrove. He has held a variety of jobs and even at one point had her own business. When she first moved her she worked for Service Electric and then Fresh Roasted Coffee. When her children were born she dropped back to part time work as she raised two sons, Carter and Porter. Carter is now an avid baseball player, playing on as many as five teams at one time (this has meant lots of travel for his parents). Porter is a competitive bike racer and has had substantial success, including at the state wide level (this has also meant lots of travel for parents). Always interested in fitness, Kristine earned certification as a group exercise leader, with Silver Sneakers and Zumba and Yoga being part of her portfolio. Earning certification as a realtor, she now works for the Bowen Agency and the latest endeavor is learning more about commercial real estate. In addition, she is active with the VFW Auxiliary, which she currently serves as President. The Auxiliary does work on behalf of veterans and is engaged in year-round fund raising that goes directly to that work. President noted that Cheryl is recovering well from recent surgery and Wes is having surgery this next week.
