October 31, 2019 – Twenty-two Rotarians and guests (Dan Mahoney’s guest Bob Bertram, visiting Rotarian from Lewistown Cher Harpster, and interested in becoming a Rotarian, Zach Stotter) were present to hear Susan Bolig, Regional Director of Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania, describe the organization mission and purpose. Marty Blessing served as host.
Sue’s 18 year old son is autistic, and that has motivated her for years to find, develop, provide opportunities for him to be as fully engaged in life as possible. Parent to Parent is a national program, with Pennsylvania being the second largest program sponsored through the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit and the PA. Department of Education and Development of Human Services. In her role as a regional director, using the Parent to Parent data bank, she matches parents with a child who has a mental or physical disability with a parent facing similar issues. The service is free and confidential. Susan is truly remarkable in the editor’s opinion since she see’s needs and sets about fulfilling them. Other activities she is engage in including Rejoicing Spirits, done through the Selinsgrove Ministerium, and the activities program for those with disabilities such as bowling and soft ball. Susan is truly a wonderful and positive part of the Selinsgrove community. Check out www.parenttoparent.org
