Nov. 7, 2019 – Nineteen Rotarians were present for the Club Assembly led by President Carol Handlan. Sarah Maneval reviewed Treasurer’s report with the Club noting that we netted about $5000 on the Golf Ball Drop. Carol noted all that has occurred to date with development of Rotary Rack Card, that we are half way to our new member goal, that we have been more visible given sale of golf ball drop tickets and participation in the Halloween Parade. On behalf of the Nominations Committee, Cheryl Stumpf conducted the First Reading of the slate for Officers and Directors of the 20-21 Rotary year with a call for nominations from the floor. Nominated as Directors for 20-21 are Art Bowen, Club Service; Marty Blessing, Vocational Service; Toby Skinner, Vocational; Pat Pinkowski, Community Service. Officer nominees are Dan Mahoney, President; Carol Handlan, Past President; Vice President (nominee sought); President Elect (nominee sought); Treasurer, Sarah Maneval; Secretary, Hal Dunkelberger. A Club our size needs members to step up and express willingness to serve in the leadership positions of President Elect and Vice President. The Annual Meeting is postponed till Dec. 5 to allow more time for the development of a full slate. A board meeting preceded. The Board has approved donation of $3,000 from the Foundation Pass Through Fund to be donated to “Everyone’s Playground.” The Tree Fest Book for our tree this year is Pokey the Puppy.

Announcements: The flags are on display at Rotary Field for Veterans Day. Dave Lawer reminds all that if you happen to know others who wish to remember a vet in this way, the cost is $20 and we will add them to the display for Memorial Day in May. *Remember that we have our second Little Green Box for recycling household batteries. John Stokinger advises that cell phones and tool batteries, as well as circle batteries are accepted.**Pat Pinkowski is collecting funds for this year’s needy family, identified through the REC, a single mother with three young children.***HELP needed turning up a Jan. host family for our exchange student. Marv reported that he “struck out” with three families this week. Given this difficulty he has decided we will not take on an exchange student next year. SAD = do think of some folks who might do this well and share with Marv.

Sergeant at arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected happy fines as follows (to the best of the Editor’s ability to record them): Happy Birthday Marty Blessing; himself (SASD athletics); Dave Lawer (Tom Gates’ help with flag display); John Fischer (Dave and Tom’s work on the display); Konrad Kempfe (Tom and Dave); Carol Handlan (Tom, Cheryl, Rotarians who step up, husband’s surgery next week); Toby Skinner (vet flags); and Earl Ferster (+15 and greetings to all from Bill Clark).
