Dec. 12, 2019 – Twenty-five Rotarians and guests were present as Jay Mueller, Director of Recreation, and two of the group’s members spoke about the group. Marv Rudnitsky was the host.  Founded in 1976 at Penn State, Jay, who started in 1993, is only the second director in the 45-year history of the group.  Its national outreach to veterans in hospitals and homes since 1983 the group has traveled about 30,000 miles a year and done over 150 shows a year. Members typically commit to two years with the group of 10 young people. Jay shared a video showing Recreation visiting and performing their Variety Show to veterans.

John Fischer presented Fritz Heinemann with a $3000 check from proceeds of the Golf Tournament to benefit “Everyone’s Playground.”  Fritz shared stories and information about the success of the all inclusive playground and greetings from the Russel’s.

Announcements: John Stokinger updated us on the success of the Pints for Polio event this past Saturday, Dec. 7 at Isle of Que Brewing Co. which raised about $200, with an additional donation and matching, this will become $600. *Marty Blessing circulated sign-up sheet for Rural/Urban night scheduled for 1/23 – save the date, guests and partners welcome. Art Bowen circulated sign-up sheet for Holiday Luncheon scheduled for 12/19.**Check out Tree Fest at the Library and the Rotary tree Pokey the Puppy .***Envelope circulating for Sue.

International MomentToby Skinner shared article from the Rotarian about a polio victim building bicycles and participating in Polio Plus efforts with a Rotary Club in Nigeria.
