Jan. 30, 2020 – Twenty-eight Rotarians and guests were present to hear recently retired County Commissioner Lee Knepp, an avid historian, reflect on his involvement with the Friends of Benjamin Franklin society. He served this group as a board member, treasurer, and President prior to the decision to dissolve and give its assets to the Franklin Journal archives. Hal Dukelberger was the host. In recognition of both the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage and Franklin’s 314th (Pi) Birthday, Lee spoke about the unique opportunity he had to become acquainted with numerous strong women who were involved with the society or who were Franklin descendants. This was a delightful and interesting presentation. Guests present included Kristine Horton’s guests Stacey Napoli of Isabella’s and Ginger Griffich from the VFW. The VFW, located on 522, will be holding a Bacon Cheeseburger Night on Feb. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m., with proceeds going to support upkeep at Rotary Field. Kelly Feiler from the REC, had Javier and two SU student engagement volunteers with her. The students were introduced and will be working at the REC for the next 4 years.
