July 30, 2020: 21 Rotarians in-person (18) or via Zoom (3), joined us for our social distant lunch meeting at the SVCC, to hear fellow Rotarian, Michael Damiano, speak on the overall financial environment and the impact of the pandemic on investments. A copy of his presentation: Outlooks and Opportunities is attached. Michael covered how the COVID-19 virus has impacted the economy, interest rates, its affect on the equity market, performance of global markets, impact of politics, what are our risks, common mistakes, we, as investors make and looking how you put all these moving pieces together. Michael did an excellent job presenting via Zoom from Delaware. Take away, diversify and be patient. The meeting ended with Marty Blessing sharing our selected speaker book, Together by Vivek H. Murthy.
Announcements: 1) Dan reminded everyone that our District Governor will be with us next week and encouraged members to attend. He also reminded us of our offsite meeting and tour at Spyglass Ridge on August 13. Lunch will be provided.
Sergeant at Arms: Marv Rudnitsky collected a whopping $38.00 in happy fines from the following Rotarians; with social distancing, I may have missed a few due to difficulty hearing everyone in the ballroom: Conrad (Mars Rover/COVID Lecture by Tammy Tobin-Jansen) Dave (speaker/Carol) Marv (speaker/former student who donated $2,000 to help the community) Art (family vacation/victory) Hal (Dan) Marty (speaker/prayer shawls) Wes (happy to be back/eye surgery) Toby (owed from last week) Kelly (speaker/guest/parents 54th anniversary) Carol (speaker/seeing members returning) Mike (46th anniversary).
