Oct. 22, 2029: 18 Rotarians and 7 guests joined us for our annual Distinguished Service Award luncheon meeting at SVCC in the ballroom. Dan welcomed everyone and recognized our guests of honor, Bo and Joan Fasold, the honorable Mayor Jeff Reed, Pam Ross, and Don Housley. Marv Rudnitsky introduced, Young Americans, students, Maddie Stebila and Cory Bastian.  Ken Miller did the invocation and host, Art Bowen, introduced the speakers: Pam Ross, Don Housley, Shawn Felty, Carol Handlan and Mayor Jeff Reed.  Each speaker shared their interactions, over many years, with both Bo and Joan and the contributions each has made and continues to make. We heard about their love and commitment to the betterment of Selinsgrove and working on a number of projects from their current roles on the Shade Tree Commission, the planting and maintenance of the flowers at the entry from the south of town, to their work as members for the past 12 years on the Hops, Vines & Wines core committee. As a guide to fifth grade student historical walking tours, to the collection of thousands of photos dating as far back as 1860’s with the entire collection being upload to the Snyder County Libraries website. In addition, to them being instrumental in assisting with both the initial and the total restoration projects for the town clock (now know as Grover) and the development of the annual Selinsgrove calendar, to also being the co-chairs of the holiday downtown decorating for 5 years including the tree lighting ceremony and they were part of the Market Street Festival committee for many years. It was great to hear all that they have done and there are no two volunteers like Bo and Joan and we know they will continue to work tirelessly to ensure Selinsgrove remains a wonderful place to live, work and play. In closing the program, Joan shared their deep appreciation for the recognition and receiving the Rotary Award.
