February 4, 2021: 18 Rotarians joined us for a Zoom meeting to hear Marv Rudnitsky provide an overview of the workings of Selinsgrove Borough Council and its impact on operating the borough. He also shared the story of Rudy Gelnett and how fortunate the borough was having been the recipient of $5 million dollars; that was set up in a trust. Where only the interest is drawn annually for projects that enhance the borough. A number of non-profits apply each year for funding; such as the REC, Selinsgrove Pool, Selinsgrove Projects Inc, Kids Grove, DH & L, etc.. Marv noted that no other municipality in the entire state has ever received such a gift by an individual resident. He acknowledged both Carol Handlan and Dottie Anderson as former elected council members and each shared some experiences and what motivated them to run and serve on council.  Any one interested in serving their community can file a petition and obtain signatures to run for a four year term.

Announcements: 1) President Dan mentioned we had a productive board meeting. 2) Dan announced that Charlie McCuen was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. 3) Acknowledged Toby Skinner and Carol Handlan who were celebrating birthdays this week. 4) Marv Rudnitsky mentioned that the 4-Way Rotary Speech Contest will be done virtually this year.

Sergeant at Arms:  Marv Rudnitsky provided a bit of humor. He collected happy fines from Carol (her birthday, Marv as speaker); Tom (Shawn for website on Wheels application); Kelly (son’s birthday, Seals basketball); Stacey(Art, Wheels, seeing everyone); Marv (good day, seeing everyone); Charlie (great to be joining the meeting); John F (gorgeous snow fall); Dottie (Rotary letter opener); Dan (Charlie); Art (good to be here).
