The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. A major activity is the Ambassadorial Scholar Program for college graduates. The Foundation is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of service to humanity. The Rotary Foundation was started in 1917 and has received contributions of more than $1 billion dollars to date. The Selinsgrove Area Club has always encouraged members to make contributions to support the Rotary Foundation, but this remains an individual choice of members. Any Rotarian who contributes a total of $1,000 (over any length of time) is recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.
