March 13, 2014:
Twenty-three Rotarians and guests were in attendance as Toby Skinner introduced
Jane and Stan Korbar, owner/operators of Patchwork Farms and Alpaca Shop. Jane
and Stan began owning and working with Alpacas in 2003 with 3 female alpaca,
all of whom were bred the next year. Alpacas, originally from Peru and (it is believed)
developed by the Incas, are disease resistant and live for approximately 25
years. The Korbar’s host bus tours, classroom and home school groups at the
farm and participate in several shows a year. Rotarians served as models for
items from the shop, and several are very familiar with the farm and the shop.
It is well worth the visit.
