July 16, 2009     Twenty-four Rotarians and were present as President Jeff Edmunds convened a Club Assembly with the topic being the development of the Avenues of Service Goals for the current Rotary year.  Members of each Avenue discussed their goals and shared them as follows:  VOCATIONAL – hold two offsite meetings at area businesses; continue to foster an interest with students in business through sponsorship of Free Enterprise Week; and continue to foster our relationship with SUN Career & Technology Center.  INTERNATIONAL – Fund a Shelter Box; continue the matching grant with the Brazilian club; support Michael Damiano’s service efforts in Cambodia; and begin to investigate the feasibility of hosting a foreign exchange student in 2010.  CLUB SERVICE – Increase membership by one; the Club President must secure one new member; continue support of the Polio Plus program and the Purple Pinkie for Polio activity; retain members; request a budget for Club Service; and provide information and interesting programs for members as well as a suitable lunch and outstanding fellowship during meetings and special programs.  COMMUNITY SERVICE – No members of this Avenue were present.  SPECIAL EVENTS – The group decided to endorse the request that the Rotary Little League Field be only use for baseball, with the remaining area available for other activities such as Midget Football; and investigate whether the Annual Coaches Night is an activity we wish to continue.

Announcements: *Hotdogs will be served at Gazebo Night on Tuesday, July 21 at 6:30.  **Ken Miller announced that a work group will be formed to replace two doors and repair roof and gutters at Rotary Field.  ***Joyce Anderson acknowledged Jerry Rhoades’ twenty-two years as a Rotarian.  Dottie Anderson and Donna Long are both recuperating from surgery and illness and we send our best wishes to them.  **** President Jeff announced that a Rotary Leadership Institute will be held in September.  Interested members should see him.  RI will being naming a Director from our Zone to for the next international conference in Canada.  Nominations should be submitted to him.  Thank you notes were received from Brad Billings, a scholarship recipient, and our District Governor following last week’s meeting.  *****Pat Pinkowski is now handling programs.  You will receive a postcard indicating the date for which you must secure a speaker for the Club.
