No meeting November 24, Thanksgiving Day

Next Meeting: December 1, 2016 – U.S. District Judge Mathew W. Brann will be the speaker. Host is John Reed and he is hoping for an excellent attendance for this meeting. Greeter is Brian Nieitz, SVCC, 11:45 a.m. A Board of Directors meeting precedes at 11 a.m.

November 17, 2016:  Twenty-two Rotarians were present for the Annual Club Meeting and Election of Officers and Directors.  The nominating committee  Slate for Officers and Directors for 2017-18 is as follows: President – Toby Skinner; President Elect – Cheryl Stumpf; Vice President – Carol Handlan; Secretary – Hal Dunkelberger; Treasurer – John Fischer; Directors – New Generations, Marv Rudnitsky; Club, Art Bowen; Community, Jared Roush; Vocational, Sarah Maneval; International, Konrad Kempfe.  There being no additional nominations from the floor, the slate was elected by acclamation.

Announcements and other business: President Mary circulate a delightful book about Fanny Mayer’s year here as a Rotary Exchange student.*We have received a thank you from Shelter Box for our donation and from the Community Foundation and its affiliates – such as the Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation.**Art Bowen will be circulating a signup sheet for Salvation Army Bell Ringing once locations and times determined – he will do this via e-mail in lieu of our not meeting next week.***Remember that a fund raiser for Meals on Wheels is scheduled at Wendy’s on 11/29 from 6 – 8 p.m., with 20% of sales going to Meals on Wheels.****We are reminded about EREY and goal of given at least $26 this year in recognition of the Foundation Anniversary. We are “punting” on raffle ticket sales for the District Foundation Dinner given last minute notice.***** All are reminded that it is the program hosts responsibility to tell speakers that they will have 20 minutes for their presentations, with another 10 for any Q & A and that, as 1 p.m. approaches, those who are working will be leaving the meeting in order to return to work.******Anyone up for volunteering to take pictures at meetings in Mike Flock’s absence?*******Contract with Steve Fluder for Mallet Madness has been negotiated by Donna Schuck and Mike Piecuch, so planning for this May event will resume soon.

Sargent at arms: Art Bowen collected happy fines as follows: himself (Happy Birthday and NJ weekend); John Fischer (leaving early); Joyce Anderson (John Stokinger and woman Rotary Presidents for the next 4 years); Dave Betz (sports wins); Pat Pinkowski (Penn State and Pitt, family Thanksgiving); Bob Fogle (his kids); Bill Clrk (SU win over Juniata); Bob Soper (settling into new home); Carol Handlan (Thanksgiving and family); Melissa Laniewski (Pittsburgh weekend); Donna Schuck (West Va. Weekend and seeing longtime friends); and Earl Ferster (+15 and having wild turkey for Thanksgiving).

Dec. 8 – Speakers from Susquehanna Valley CASA will be Yvonne Heatley, Executive Director, and Lori Wannop,Marketing and Communications Director, Jared Roush is the host, Michael Piecuch is the greeter. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

Dec. 15 – Speaker will be Susana Falk on the topic of clean water and Rotary work in Ecuador and Nicaragua. Konrad Kempfe is the host, John Reed is the greeter, SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

Dec. 22 – Holiday Lunch, Art Bowen is the host, Partners and guests welcome. SVCC, 11:45 a.m.

Dec. 29 – Christmas/New Year’s week – No Meeting.
